High Tech Radiation-Free Cavity Detection
High Tech Radiation-Free Cavity Detection
Cavities can now be detected early without the use of radiation. Through the fiber optic infrared translumination of our CariVu system, our dentists can immediately see minute defects in tooth enamel on the computer screen. If dental decay (caries) is detected early enough, it may be treated with fluoride gel, sealed, or easily removed to stop the disease process and thus eliminating or minimizing the need for extensive tooth restoration. Pregnant women and others, who are advised to not have dental x-rays in their current circumstances, will be relieved to know that we have the technology to examine them for caries. Our patients of all ages will benefit from our improved ability to observe the status of the enamel between their teeth where food debris often sticks.
At Prosthodontics and Implant Therapy of Tampa, Florida, we have used digital x-ray technology for many years and currently use Sirona’s leading XG3D digital imaging technology. With this technology, our dentists are able to immediately see the 3D x-ray images on the computer monitor, the size of images can be increased for better viewing, and the process is more streamlined and comfortable than it was years ago. The XG3D technology allows our dentists to take expansive 3D images with less exposure. This translates to immediately having the highest quality images at the lowest dose of radiation.
Note that dental x-rays are essential to the thorough examination of our patients. We will ask your permission to take x-rays, depending on when they were last taken in our office. Your present oral condition, medical history, age, and risk for oral disease are all deciding factors to determine if you are a candidate for x-rays. If you are a new patient, x-rays will be used, under most circumstances, to determine the current condition of your oral health and establish a baseline for changes that may occur in your health. They are essential for a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning. Many times, treatments cannot be precisely and predictably done without them.
Please ask us about the possibility of forwarding x-rays from your previous dentist or referring dentist or specialist. If they are recent, expansive enough, and of high enough definition / quality, they may be of value as we begin our examination and discussion of your oral health and any desired restorations and additional cosmetic enhancements.
High-Tech Intra-Oral Scanning
Dr. Iranmanesh uses Sirona’s Bluecam technology to scan powdered tooth surfaces in seconds. The camera produces precise 3D images of individual teeth with exact tooth margins. This digital impression technology is more efficient and reliable to work with than traditional impressions. Because there is no longer need to put an impression tray of “goo” in a patient’s mouth to make an impression, our patient’s comfort is greatly enhanced. Because of Bluecam precision, your restorations will fit perfectly the first time and not have to be remade, minimizing time spent in the dental chair.
Dr. Iranmanesh and Dr Esfahanian also use Sirona’s MCXL CAD/CAM milling machine to mill ceramic tooth restorations. Their proficiency with this machine and all of Sirona’s integrated system components allows our dentists to complete treatment in a single session. Our exquisite crowns and other restorations are carefully crafted to maximize tooth function and aesthetics. Prior to CAD/CAM milling, our dentists had to make a mold of the tooth and fashion a temporary restoration that was worn until the permanent one was made in the dental laboratory. Today, a patient can have a root canal performed and in the same day have the tooth prepared to receive a crown, have the prepared tooth scanned with a small intra-oral camera, and have the crown milled and seated to perfectly fit their mouth. The entire process is quick and painless. The results are naturally beautiful and long lasting.
Same day restorations are the norm at Prosthodontics and Implant Therapy of Tampa! Even veneers are milled onsite while you wait, making a smile makeover with veneers fast. Due to today’s ceramic materials, veneers are thinner and more lifelike than ever — and more durable. Preparing a tooth for a veneer requires the removal of a small amount of tooth structure, but with today’s digital impressions, CAD/CAM milling, and exquisite materials, tooth surface reduction is minor — and, in Dr. Iranmanesh’s expert hands, a conservative procedure.
Sirona Technology Integration
At Prosthodontics and Implant Therapy of Tampa, Sirona imaging, scanning and milling technology is all integrated for unparalleled efficiency and accuracy. Dr. Iranmanesh is one of the nation’s most proficient users of the technology and was on the leading edge of the technology usage. Patient feedback from this fully integrated and efficient system has been extremely positive. “I invested in this technology and have taken extensive operator training so my patients can benefit from optimal quality and the streamlined workflow,” said Dr. Iranmanesh. “Patients appreciate this efficiency and the knowledge that the procedures I perform will be predictably successful.”
